2006 Stoller JV Estate Pinot Noir

World’s 30 Best Pinot Noirs. Sweet cherry fruit and a touch of graham-crackery oak make this straightforward Pinot — sourced from younger vines at Stoller’s estate vineyard in the Dundee Hills — a pleasure to drink. Food and Wine, April 2008.

90. Bright, youthful cherry scents lead this ripe, vibrant wine.  Its succulent cherry flavors are generous, simple and delicious, with a fine dusty finish that makes this ideal with a lighter grilled fish, like tilapia. Wine & Spirits, April 2008.

2005 SV Estate Pinot Noir

91. Lush and forward, this has the scent of just-cooked raspberry jam, fresh and sweet, with a meaty note that instills it with a convincing savor.  Its ripe, crowd-pleasing flavors would pair well with roast chicken. Wine & Spirits, April 2008.

89. Bright red. Sexy, spicy aromas of raspberry and strawberry, lifted by a suave floral topnote. The energetic red berry flavors are firmed by juicy acidity, which adds focus and lift to the finish. This is extremely easy to drink. Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar.

2004 SV Estate Pinot Noir

91. Dark red. Ripe red and dark berry scents, with suggestions of succulent herbs and fresh flowers. Silky and sweet, with a deep red berry character, fully integrated tannins and exotic baking spice notes building with air. Very sexy, broad wine with impressive depth and sweetness; this nicely maintains its balance and energy through the long finish. Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar.

93. Spicy, some earth and cherry aromas; ripe, earthy, spicy flavor, silky texture, sweet oak, good structure and balance; long finish. Beautiful aromas and flavors mark this as a Pinot that's as good by itself and with a meal. Pinot Report, April 2007.

93. This Dundee Hills pinot is so generously fruity and seductive that you're liable to miss its complexity at first go. But beneath the black cherry scenes are elements of mint, tree bark and red earth that ground all of the forward, dark strawberry fruit. For seared duck breast. Wine & Spirits, April 2007.

Best Pinot Noir. Wine & Spirits magazine tasted 467 North American Pinot Noirs and selected our 2004 SV Estate Pinot Noir along with 10 others as their year's best Pinot Noir! April, 2007.

4 stars. A Pinot Noir cannot be all things to all people, yet this comes close. Wonderfully balanced, it has sweet, juicy cherry/berry fruit, exotic Asian spice, plus flashes of earth, forest floor and mineral. Silky-smooth with crisp acidity and good ageability. Decanter, March 2007.

Top 100 Wines 2006. Here is an outstanding example, a medium-full Pinot that has the fruity elegance (cherry and black plum) typical of Stoller Pinot Noirs, hints of mushroom and spicy oak, and a luxurious texture. It's a great sip by itself, yet can also complement rich, earthy, savory dishes. San Francisco Chronicle.

2004 Cathy's Reserve

92. Deep red. Seductively aromatic scents of raspberry and strawberry, accented by fresh violet, rose and cola. velvety in texture and strikingly concentrated, with powerful red berry flavors verging on liqueur-like, but with bright mineral lift and an explosively sweet berry and floral pastille-dominated finish. Really captivating stuff, finishing with noteworthy purity and length. Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar.

2004 JV Estate Pinot Noir

91. Lean, lithe and distinctive, brimming with personality on a refined frame, offering raspberry, red cherry and sweet wet earth aromas and flavors that linger beautifully against fine tannins on the long, long finish. best from 2007 through 2014. Wine Spectator, September 30, 2006.

91. Medium-deep ruby color; deep, rich, cherry aromas; ripe, rich strawberry and cherry flavors, light and bright; good structure and balance; lingering finish. A lighter bodied Pinot, this has such nice bright flavors, it's a great sipper by itself. Pinot Report, July 1, 2006.

2003 SV Estate Pinot Noir

... surprisingly fresh and lively in the mouth but at the same time silky and gentle, the fruit running to raspberry and strawberry preserves. Finishes on a bright note of crystallized red berries, with a faint suggestion of brown butter. (JR) Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar.

Ultimate Pinot Noir for 2006. VINworks' Ultimate Pinot Noir Challenge on September 30, 2006. (VINworks' Web site)

92. Medium-deep ruby color; deep, slightly earthy aromas; rich and ripe on the palate with cherry and blueberry flavors, good structure and balance; long finish. Bright and yet with some complexing flavors, this Pinot from Stoller Vineyards really hits a solid middle ground in terms of weight and affinity for the table. Pinot Report, July 1, 2006.

2002 SV Estate Pinot Noir

Red Wine of the Week. Pinot Noir loves birds. That's a given. This juicy Pinot from Stoller Vineyards in Oregon's Willamette Valley is no retiring violet. With enticing aromas of berry and earth, a firm acidity and lush velvety fruit — think blackberries, plums and blueberries — this Pinot should make beautiful music with the Thanksgiving turkey. The finish leaves an impression of sweet spices. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, it's dense and chewy enough to stand up to the myriad flavors in a full-tilt Thanksgiving dinner. LA Times, November 16, 2005.

Best 2002 Values. Food & Wine.

91. The winery's red debut, the 2002 Pinot Noir Estate Grown, is top-notch. Waxy black cherries dominate its boisterous aromatics. On the palate, this plush, supple, seamless wine regales the taster with oodles of dark cherries, blackberries, and blueberries. Its plush, hedonistic fruit lingers in its long, angle-free finish. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.

Outstanding! This decade-old vineyard in the Dundee Hills has a dandy of a wine on its hands with this new release. It's loaded with aromas and flavors ranging from sweet herbs to strawberries and rhubarb. Cedar, cherries, cola, and plum add to the complexity, and hints of baker's chocolate linger on the finish. A powerful wine. Wine Press Northwest, Fall 2004.

90. Very deep ruby. Cola and spice notes add complexity to the black fruit aromas that continue on to the supple, delicious and robust flavors that possess impressive density and plenty of character. This is not a wine of finesse but there is solid size, weight and length and while it's certainly quite ripe, it is not rustic or lacking in style. 2008+ Burghound #16, Allen Meadows.

Highly Recommended. Deep aromas of black cherry and plum fruit with notes of chocolate and graham. Dense and juicy flavors of blackberry and plum. Rich, supple, and balanced, with a long finish of fruit, graham, and spice; pair with braised lamb shanks. Northwest Palate.

90. On the firm side for the vintage; chunky, with refreshing acidity to balance the ripe plum, sweet red pepper, and earthy flavors, which mingle nicely on the long finish. Best from 2006 through 2012. (HS) Wine Spectator, May 31, 2004.
