Crafted exclusively from estate fruit grown on our Dundee Hills property, this Junior Vines bottling showcases the bright, pure fruit of our vineyard site. Beautifully ripe and brimming with sweet cherry and berry flavors, the JV Estate is a sumptuous, spicy Pinot Noir in an extremely approachable style.
2006 was a warm growing season in Oregon, producing nice ripe mature tannic structure and concentration, adding to a recent run of great vintages. The fall brought continued sunshine, leading to a short and focused harvest season. The hallmark of the resulting vintage is powerful structured wines with accessible concentrated ripe fruit.
Harvest began on September 25th and concluded October 9th with the JV Pinot fruit being picked prior to the rains. The fruit selected for our JV Pinot Noir comes from our vineyard’s newest plantings.
The 2006 JV Pinot Noir was de-stemmed into steel fermentation tanks, where it spent 7 to 10 days cold soaking before fermentation began. Approximately half of the Pinot Noir was fermented with native yeasts; the remainder was inoculated with various commercial yeast strains. After fermentation, the wine was put to barrel where it underwent secondary fermentation and was aged 10 months prior to bottling.
Ripe strawberries, red cherry and earth on the aromatics lead to delicate fruit and earth on the palate and a spicy finish. The 2006 JV Pinot was blended to be approachable and balanced while showcasing the richness of the Stoller site.
