We are very happy that our 2006 JV Pinot Noir is included in The San Francisco Chronicle's Top 100 Wines of 2008 list!
Oregon's Willamette Valley was recently named the #6 Top Hot Spots for 2009 by Yahoo! Travel. Read all about it and start making your travel plans. And we certainly hope you will stop by Stoller Vinevards to see us when you're in the area.
Watch and listen as Bill Stoller discusses the winery's groundbreaking LEED certification on Wine Taste TV.
Stoller Vineyards was just named one of the country's Best New Wineries by Wine & Spirits magazine! In their Fall 2008 special issue, Best
in the World of Wine, Wine & Spirits says of Stoller:
"In 2001 he [Bill Stoller] founded Stoller Vineyards, hiring the young and talented Melissa Burr in 2003 to make his wines. Now that much of the vineyard is close to 13 years old, the wines are showing some exceptional grace. But the vineyard's hallmark has always been generosity -- these are ample wines, open and forward, completely irresistible. Just last year the family opened their environmentally sensitive, LEED-certified winery, and above it flies the family crest, in the center of which is a turkey, mid-trot."
The article also singles out three Stoller wines and their Wine & Spirits scores:
93 - 2004 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir
91 - 2005 Dundee Hills Chardonnay
91 - 2005 Dundee Hills Estate Grown Pinot Noir
We are also very excited that both of our current release 2006 Pinot Noirs just received Three Star (Excellent) reviews from the San Francisco Chronicle. The Stoller wines accounted for 2 of only 3 Three Star reviews, out of 73 total wines tasted by the Chronicle.
2006 Stoller SV Pinot Noir
Three Stars (Excellent). Orange blossom, mineral-driven nose with soy, musk and forest floor amid radiant strawberry. Palate's subtle fruit is mildly sweet but seamless, with greater acidity. Cocoa-like tannins provide perfect grip. Balanced.
2006 Stoller JV Pinot Noir
Three Stars (Excellent). Loam, Bing cherry, cranberry, strawberry and tangerine aromas. Juicy, ripe profile bolstered by a hint of cocoa, spice and bright acidity. Pretty, balanced with soft tannins and a sappy sweet note on the finish. Classic Oregon Pinot Noir that gets extra points for value.
The 2006 JV Pinot Noir was also selected as the Wine of the Week in the Chronicle’s food and wine e-newsletter: “…this young-vines bottling offers killer dollar-for-Pinot value. With a tang to it — tangerine and tamari — it offers a juicy, full profile, with Oregon's trademark buoyancy and clarity.”
Stoller Vineyards 2006 SV Chardonnay is featured in the October 2008 issue of Wine & Spirits magazine. In the article Northwest Chardonnay Meets Sustainable Seafood, Chef Philip Mihalski of Nell's Restaurant in Seattle recommends the 2006 SV Chardonnay with his Black Cod with Mussel and Leek Broth, Hearts of Palm and Thyme. The SV Chardonnay is also the subject of a gorgeous photo accompanying the article!
Stoller Vineyards was recently featured on the Travel Channel show Extreme Ways to Go Green. The show highlighted "the ultimate eco-friendly tour of the biggest, the best and the most over-the-top green spaces and places." A film crew from the Travel Channel spent an entire day onsite at Stoller, capturing all the action in the tasting room and interviewing winemaker Melissa Burr in the cellars.
